A Story of Family, Hospitality & Heart
Mrs. Rita and her husband, Mr. George, were both born on the beautiful island of Symi. Seeking new horizons, they left Greece and moved to Africa, where they worked, built a family, and welcomed two children.
Years later, they returned to Rhodes with a dream: to create a place they could call home and share with others. They built Africa Hotel, pouring their hearts into it and making it their second home.
What began as a family business soon became a place filled with warmth, laughter, familiar faces, and unforgettable memories. Guests returned year after year—not only for the beautiful holidays, but for Rita herself and the delicious homemade treats she lovingly prepared: brioche, cakes, pasta flora, biscuits, doughnuts, rice pudding, wine custard, and her famous signature apple pies.
But Rita’s greatest gift was not found in her kitchen. It was in the way she welcomed people. Her warm smile, kindness, and genuine desire to help made every guest feel like part of the family. Over the years, friendships grew, traditions were created, and generations of guests returned to Rhodes to experience the same feeling of being truly at home.
Today, that spirit lives on through the next generation. Katerina and Tsampicos have carried the family tradition forward, turning their vision into Rita Mare Villas—a new chapter inspired by the woman whose name, warmth, and hospitality started it all.
And now, the story continues with their children, Margaret and Nick, taking the reins and bringing their own energy, ideas, and passion to the family business. Margaret, with her background in civil engineering, and Nick, with his medical profession, each bring a distinct perspective, professional expertise, and a strong commitment to excellence, while remaining deeply connected to the values and traditions that have shaped the family business over the years.
With them, a new generation of hospitality begins—where knowledge, dedication, and a passion for excellence come together to create an experience that honours the past while looking confidently towards the future.
